In Immersion

We Find Presence

-Michael Wagner, PHD, Professor of Digital Media, Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design at Drexel University

Om \ Wave is an immersive sound and acupuncture project created by Dr. Shamus, a doctor of Eastern medicine and sound designer. It combines the traditions of acupuncture with advanced spatial audio to help regulate the nervous system, reduce stress, and support the body’s natural balance.

Using Dolby Atmos technology, Om \ Wave creates a three-dimensional sound field where tones and textures move above, behind, and around you. This isn’t background music — it’s sound designed to be felt as much as heard, encouraging a shift into interoception: the awareness of what’s happening inside your body.

There are two ways to experience Om \ Wave:

• Acupuncture + Sound Sessions — Available in both private and community settings. Acupuncture treatments are paired with immersive soundscapes, tuned to deepen relaxation and enhance the body’s response.

• Live Performances — Real-time sound environments built for deep listening. Each performance blends tones, textures, and field recordings into an atmosphere that changes with the space and the people present.

At its core, Om \ Wave is about creating spaces that allow the body and mind to slow down, reconnect, and reset — whether in a treatment room, a shared group session, or a performance hall.
